Change PSN Name in a Web Browser

How to change your PlayStation Online ID from playstation.com Account Management on a computer or phone browser.

Changing your Online ID in a browser is useful when you are not near a console. You still need a valid name, an availability pass, and payment if you have already used the free first change. Start from official Account Management as described on PlayStation Support.

Steps on the web

Use a private browser window if you share a computer. Wrong-account renames are painful.

  • Open the official PlayStation Account Management site and sign in.
  • Select Profile from the sidebar.
  • Select Edit next to your current Online ID.
  • Enter a new Online ID and use Check Availability.
  • If it is free, continue and choose the 30-day previous-ID display option if you want it.
  • Confirm purchase or change, then sign back into your devices.

Security basics

Only use official PlayStation domains. This website never asks for your PSN password, NPSSO, or payment card for Sony checkout.

After the change, expect a full sign-out. Update any console, app, or browser session that still holds the old login state.

Phishing pages love rename season. If the URL is weird, stop.

When web edit is blocked

Verify your sign-in ID/email if prompted. Unverified accounts often lose edit buttons.

Confirm parental or family controls are not blocking the action, then try another browser session.

Console settings are a backup path if the web UI will not offer Edit. Same rules, different screen.

Paste a candidate into our free PSN name checker before you start a PlayStation rename or new account flow. Checking here does not reserve the ID.
