PSN Name Typing & Input Errors
Fix common PlayStation Online ID input errors caused by spaces, symbols, length, starting characters, or copy-paste mistakes.
Most input errors mean the name breaks a format rule. Fix the highlighted issue, then try again on both our checker and PlayStation's official field.
Checklist that clears most errors
Run this before you invent a brand-new name. Format fails are usually boring and fixable.
- Length is 3-16 characters (no leading or trailing spaces).
- First character is a letter.
- No spaces anywhere.
- Only letters, numbers, _ and -.
- No emoji or special symbols.
- Not identical to your account password.
Copy-paste gotchas
Names copied from Instagram, Discord, or Notes apps can include invisible characters, fancy Unicode letters, or accidental line breaks.
If a name "looks right" but keeps failing, delete it and type manually on a US/UK QWERTY layout.
Phone autocorrect inserting spaces is a classic. Watch the field as you type.
Valid format but still rejected
Then you may be in policy territory (offensive or impersonation) or true unavailability.
Try a milder variant and read the exact on-screen PlayStation message. It usually distinguishes taken vs invalid vs restricted.
Our checker cannot override PlayStation's final call. Confirm on their screen before you pay.
