PSN Names Cannot Have Spaces
PlayStation Online IDs do not allow spaces. Learn clean ways to separate words with CamelCase, underscores, or hyphens.
Spaces are not allowed in a PSN Online ID. If you want two or more words, join them or separate them with _ or -.
Examples
Same idea, three legal shapes. One illegal shape. Easy.
- Bad: Cool Shadow
- Good: CoolShadow
- Good: Cool_Shadow
- Good: Cool-Shadow
Which separator should you pick?
CamelCase looks modern and saves characters. Underscores are very readable in plain text. Hyphens can feel stylish but may be slightly easier to mistype on some keyboards.
Pick one style and stay consistent if you also use similar names on other platforms. Friends memorize the pattern faster.
Mixing Cool_Shadow-Arc with three separators usually looks messy and burns character budget.
Paste errors
Copying a name from social media sometimes brings invisible spaces or odd Unicode. Paste into a plain text field, delete gaps, and retype borderline characters if a check keeps failing.
Phone keyboards love inserting spaces after autocomplete. Watch the character count.
If the error message only says "invalid," strip spaces first before you redesign the whole name.
